What We Do

Homeless Dogs

Ruff to Rescue Express helps dogs in the Houston, Texas area get off the streets and out of shelters.

Spay & Neuter

Veterinary care is given to ensure the health of the animal during transport.  They are also spayed/neutered before adoption.

Transport

Our volunteers transport all dogs and puppies in need to temporary foster homes in New York and Michigan.

Fur-ever Homes

“Fur-ever” homes are found by approved rescues in the north after they have adjusted to a normal life in foster care.

Donations

Donations to our rescue help with medical care for our dogs including vaccines, heartworm tests and treatments and spays/neuters.  Some dogs have major medical expenses that go beyond our financial capability and we sometimes have fundraising events.

Fostering

All of our dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers.  People believe that fostering is difficult and they would be unable to give up the dog. But it is very rewarding and many fosters keep in touch with the families who have adopted. If you would like to become a foster, please fill out the application.

Transports

As a foster you provide the home – we provide the rest!

  • Vetting?  Covered!

  • Need supplies?  We will help!

Will you take the plunge and become a foster?

Please note: Our dogs are not available for adoption until they arrive at the receiving rescue in the North East.

Before & After

You would be amazed at the difference in the lives of these dogs once they are transported, fostered, and given loving homes.

Adoption Policy

We require that existing animals in a potential home are current on veterinary care; spayed or neutered if they are old enough; and that you allow us to confirm this with your vet prior to any adoption.

Our process is a meeting in a public place or at your home for the first meet and greet of our foster dog. If that goes well, we then contact your vet (if you have existing animals) to confirm veterinary care and set up a home visit. We would then bring the foster dog to your home again to ensure he/she gets on well with all that live in the home and that it is a safe environment for the dog. A home visit is required before any adoption can take place. We try to do all our adoptions just before family has day(s) off from work so that time can be spent together prior to the work week starting. It is mandatory that we meet all family members living in the home.

Please understand we are all volunteers, so at times it may take a few days for someone to respond to your request/question.

Some dogs will require a fenced in yard and some will not. If there are specific needs for the dog, we will let you know.
